It so happens that when you have an elder brother or a sister, they are always dominating you. But it’s also true that they love you unconditionally. They always back you up when you’re in some trouble or when you are about to get a thrashing from your parents. There is an absolute beauty to have a sibling.
Today, I’ll be sharing my experiences with my sibling. How I enjoyed my childhood.
1) Fights over TV remotes
We used to fight over the different episodes being aired on the television. Even that who would keep the remote. Changing channels between the ads so that both could watch bits and pieces of their favourite show.
2) Taking the front seat in the car.
Since we were under age to drive our own cars. We were driven around by others. It used to happen that when any of us would try and sit on the front seat, the other would create a fuss. What a time it was! Now we all drive and the best moments are when we are being driven around by each other.
3) Telling the other to do the work.
It was so common to put all the work on each other. If our parents used to say that this needs to be done. We used to start emotional talking the other to do that work.
4) Calling each other adopted
The best one to tease each other was telling the other that he/she was adopted or he/she was found on the stairs of the temple or in a junkyard.
5) Our own jokes
Having your very personal jokes that no one could ever understand. Not even your parents. Then, laughing on those while everybody is looking at you with suspicion.
6) Riling them up
You knew exactly what will piss them off. It was a piece of cake for you to make them angry. Unfortunately that worked the other way around too, and they knew what things to say to make you drop to your knees and sob.
7) Calling them of evil names
Whenever you’d watch tv together, you would always point at the ugly or evil characters on the screen and say “that’s you.”
One thing I never understood was why my friends thought my brother was the most innocent one. But he is the best.
It’s so common that while we are growing up, we forget that love and affection. We stop maintaining those relationships the way they should have been. So go to your brother or sister, take them out for an ice-cream or a coffee and re-live those moments. Don’t lose that bond over stupid reasons. That love and affection is too precious to lose. Make the most of it.
Write to us and let us know your memories with your sibling and the best memories will get a special appreciation through my website.
