Life, nowadays is moving at an increasingly fast pace. One may find it pretty difficult to unwind and relax. After a long day of work, it’s pretty annoying to realise that we can’t settle into the night peacefully. The overflowing work, the constant meetings and the 24*7 accessibility to our cell phones are the main reasons of emotional and mental stress.
It’s really important to pull out a STOP sign and give yourself a break. We might find it very interesting that very little things can give us immense pleasure and also lift the stress off our shoulders.

- Sit back and relax
Take your own sweet little time. Do absolutely nothing for 5-10 minutes. This is our cool down time. Relaxing is really important.
- Take a shower
There is nothing better than a shower. Add it up with some aroma oils, soaps or shower gels. Getting into a nice warm water shower is not only quite inexpensive but also refreshing and mood uplifting. It washes off the tiredness and make your evening pleasant.
- Get into comfortable clothes
Putting on some comfy clothes is like the best feelings which we get after a long day. If we can manage, we should carry an extra pair of footwear with us. And slip them on at the end of the day. Trust me it’s gonna help. As a woman I know how amazing it feels to kick off the heels after a tiring day. Such a comfort!
- Put on some light music
Listen to some nice music which is soothing to your ears. We need to choose some music that will help us relax. Give your favourite songs a try and your mood will improve.
- Write or read
Sharing your thoughts is a nice way to relax. So write what’s going on up there. Reading also helps as it takes you into a completely different world wherein you tend to forget your troubles. Reading and writing will not only make us feel better but also sleep better. This is my favourite way to destress. Trust me it works.
- Have a cup of tea or coffee
Drinking a cup of tea or coffee is one of the most effective ways to unwind and calm your nerves after a hard day at work.
- Switch off your phone
Try and stop staring at your emails, or refreshing your feed to see something new. Your evening is time to switch off and looking at your phone doesn’t help.
- Get a good sleep
Sleeping is necessary. I have heard people saying that they don’t need sleep, they can be active without sleeping. It’s quite bizarre. Sleeping is the best way to relax your body and to get it recuperate.
We are all stuck in a rat race to prove ourselves to the world. Our busy and hectic schedules leaves us with very little time for our own personal self. Everything in this world will demand more, no matter how much you give. So take a pause at times and gather the energy to get going. Remember that you are not alone, everyone is sailing in the same boat. Take time to relax and give others their time too.
